While I was on a short vacation, I did a little reading...

Beyond Reach by Karen Slaughter
This is a sad, depressing story of drugs, lies and low self-esteem. It’s too long, too much unrelated to the story info, and could have ended on a happier note with story lines to continue in future books. Don’t waste your money on this one.

Compulsion by Jonathan Kellerman
Who are Ansell/Dale Bright and Nick Heubel? Who killed a drunken young woman who ran out of gas, an old widow, his friend, his sister? How do all these puzzle pieces fit together? Compulsion can be messy.

Left to Die by Lisa Jackson
It’s winter in Montana. Someone is shooting out the tire on a woman’s car, watching as she plunges off the road, ‘rescues’ her, then ties her up naked against a tree and lets her freeze to death. The same thing happened to Jillian Rivers, but not all the details were exactly the same. Detectives Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli must solve both cases. Good story with loose ends to be continued in next book.

The Apprentice by Tess Gerritsen
It’s a hot summer in Boston. Husbands are tied up and made to watch while their wives are raped and carted off to who knows where. Detective Jane Rizzoli believes these are similar to the work of the Surgeon. Yes, the Apprentice does meet the Surgeon and all hell breaks loose.
