The Negotiable Golf Swing by Joseph Laurentino
As a golf instructor, I will not tout this book by PGA Professional Laurentino to be the last word in golf instruction. What I will say is this: there is a lot more to reaching one’s golf goals than just swinging with the big muscles, and pulling a good attitude out of your bag before pulling out a club. Even if, in my opinion, that’s what every golfer, including Tiger Woods, had better do.
What you will find in this book is good sound golf instruction intertwined with truly interesting observations by this golf professional. I don’t have a problem recommending The Negotiable Golf Swing simply because of the time spent teaching the short game. That could be because I’ve always been a long ball hitter; that’s the good news. The bad news is that after out-driving most of my opponents, it usually took me an extra stroke to get the ball in the hole than those I out-drove. Yuck!
Here’s an example of how far this pro has gone to give his readers an edge. Not in all the years that I’ve been giving lessons and taking lessons has anyone mentioned the advantages of using an ear metronome. Why I don’t know. It sure helped me with learning the guitar, but I had never connected the two.
Please, don’t take my word about this book being worth your time and money. Ask Mike Hebron, Tom Patri or David Glenz--these three PGA professionals, at least according to Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, know a thing or two about quality golf instruction.
