The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

I had heard about this book and decided to give it a shot. Am I glad I did! It’s a 5-star wonder. I can’t begin to describe why I enjoyed this book so much, but I did. And any review I write is totally inadequate.

This is the story of a boy, Amir, in Afghanistan who flees to Pakistan with his father when the Russians take over in the ‘80s. From Pakistan, they move to the US and make a life for themselves among other Afghans in San Francisco. Amir lived a privileged life in Kabul; his servant’s son, Hassan, was his friend and playmate. But when Amir betrayed Hassan, Amir’s life was never the same again. Twenty-five years later, Amir is back in Kabul to find his redemption; this time the country is ruled by the Taliban.

Just buy the book!
