The Secret Servant by Daniel Silva

Gabriel Allon is sent to Amsterdam to clean up after an informant is killed. There he learns of an Islamic plot to terrorize London. So he’s off to London and almost thwarts the kidnapping of the US Ambassador’s daughter. Then he’s used by British and American intelligence to try to get her before the deadline set by the kidnappers.

There are many characters and locales in this story, but you don’t need a scorecard to keep everyone straight…and, the majority of the characters are from Mr. Silva’s previous book, The Messenger. While this is a work of fiction, the author does make the point that Islamic militants are everywhere and will stop at nothing to please Allah.
