The 6th Target by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro

Another episode of the Women’s Murder Club, but not too exciting. Claire, the SF medical examiner, is wounded by a wacko who killed others on a shooting spree on a ferry. Lindsay, the police detective, must find killer, of course. Yuki, the lawyer, must win a conviction for him in court. Cindy, the newspaper reporter, lives in a building housing a killer. Lindsay must also find whoever abducted a precocious little girl and her nanny as well as the bad guy in Cindy’s building.

Lots of subplots in the story and the authors try to pull them all together. But there’s fodder for another in the series if the killer gets away again. The usual short chapters make it a quick read. Unfortunately, this is just not up to the standard Mr. P. set for himself with Along Came a Spider.
